The collaboration workshop for European open cloud projects

OCEAN and the European Commission invited all FP7 open cloud projects to take part in the European Open Cloud Project Collaboration Workshop, in Brussels, May 15th. In this hands on workshop, 15 Open Cloud projects were able to leverage OCEAN Active Collaboration Methodology (based on OCEAN services) to deliver tangible synergies with other open cloud projects. This help them deliver collaboration and exploitation commitments.

What projects got from this workshop?

– raising their profile on the market through the OCEAN Open Cloud DirectoryInteroperability Framework and the ETICS suite.

– developing inter-project synergies in the following areas: Service Management, Data Management, and APIs and standards.

– sharing information on EC-funded open cloud project assets (software and documents) to complete the OCEAN Open Cloud Directory and to prepare the Open Cloud Directory 2014 brochure.

Project Representatives

15 FP7 open cloud projects sent at least one representative, several of them also sent a technical expert.

Project Presentations

The OCEAN Plugfest space offers a complete table with all specific presentations used and discussed during this Brussels workshop. Do not hesitate to download the presentations from each active open cloud projects.

Workshop Overview

The workshop began by a general session during which all participating project were coached to perfectly update their listing in the OCEAN Open Cloud Directory and their mapping in the OCEAN Interoperability Framework. For maximum efficiency the workshop then splited into two tracks Architecture and Code.

  • The Architecture track was focused on Service ManagementData Management, and APIs and standards. In each session projects were invited to make a very short presentation on how the topic is addressed by them and this round of presentation was followed by an open discussion aimed at identifying project touchpoints and synergies, and at developing collaboration opportunities and commitments.
  • The Code track was dedicated to OCEAN services. It provided a hands-on tutorial on how to validate the quality of the software code based on ETICS. Software successfully validated in the workshop are granted the privilege to display the “Quality Validated by OCEAN”  logo and will be promoted by the OCEAN project.
